Lenovo Legends Take a Walk on the Wild Side on Safari in South Africa!
At the start of the month 19 top-performers in the Lenovo Legends channel sales program were off on a five-day adventure in South Africa. They went deep into Kruger National Park to award-winning game lodge Lion Sands, stunningly situated by the Sabi River.
Accompanied by Channel Manager Rupina Menzagopian, Reseller Sales Manager Greg Hunt and Chief Marketing Officer Yu Dan Shi from Lenovo Australia and New Zealand, 19 of Lenovo's top selling Australian and New Zealand resellers got dirty, dusty and dangerous in South Africa earlier this month - and this included our very own Brian Hawkins.
This was not your usual luxury reseller tour with Lenovo's top selling partners trekking deep into the heart of South Africa for an expedition in Kruger National Park.
After arriving in Johannesburg and transferring to the luxurious Melrose Arch hotel the Legends were treated to a warm welcome dinner at a local African restaurant - one last chance to enjoy civilization perhaps?
The second day in Africa began with an early morning flight to Nelspruit Airport and then onwards to the exclusive Lion Sands Private Game Lodge. On arrival the Legends were briefed on the procedures specific to the camp (no feeding of limbs to the animals etc) before getting ready for their first game drive.
Early evening is hunting time in Kruger National Park - home to Africa's big five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo) and other beautiful and amazing wildlife. The Lenovo Legends boarded their open game vehicles ready to get up close and personal to some of Africa's own Legends. As the sun set they enjoyed ‘Sundowner Cocktails' as they moved into the game park for their first glimpses of native African wildlife. The winning Legends were lucky to experience an amazing range of Kruger's inhabitants, including road-blocking giraffes, leopards with kill, elephants, hippos and coming within feet away from lazing lions.
During the next two days, between the morning safaris and the evening game drives, participants enjoyed a variety of activities including a walking safari of the surrounding plains, wildlife lectures and cultural tours to experience the African way of life. Other activities available to the winning Legends were ballooning, clay pigeon shooting and golf - teeing off with hippos playing nearby! Evenings were spent letting loose by the camp fire until the early hours of the morning... but what happens on safari, stays on safari!
Highlights of the trip for many were bush performances by African dancers, an African ‘drum challenge' and a trip to a local pre-school. Many of the children at the pre-school have been orphaned by AIDS, and the Lenovo Legends jointly sponsored eleven students. Each Legend was presented with a photo and a card from the child, and their sponsorship provides funding for schooling, clothing and meals for the child for one year.
A highlight of the visit was the 'world cup' soccer competition - Legends versus the kids. It was a lot of fun for everyone.
